A Neapolitan family with longstanding aristocratic ties that emigrated to the capital of the Lombardy region in the 1930s gave birth to Gianni De Liguoro in Milan in 1938.
After his initial training in haute couture, a field in which his family had been active for centuries, he continued his studies at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts.
In 1971, Gianni, already very active in the arts, collaborated with painter and illustrator Mario Moletti to design four "talisman" necklaces in white and copper metal. These were produced in limited editions for an advertising campaign promoting Fior di Vite grappa by the Ramazzotti brand.
De Liguoro also set up the showroom in the 1970s Voi da Noi in Milan, where customers, wholesalers and retailers could buy jewelry themselves by selecting items from baskets.
This was a completely original concept at the time and became an immediate success, with Gianni receiving wide recognition in major fashion magazines of the 70s.
