Kramer was founded by designer Louis Kramer and his two brothers, Morris and Henry, in 1943 in New York. From the very beginning the jewellery line was a great success thanks to its original designs and excellent quality. Kramer jewellery was high-end, meticulously made and often strikingly designed, produced in limited runs with the finest materials. Its bright, stylish ornaments showcase sparkling Austrian rock crystal, both clear and coloured. Traditional Kramer materials also included gilt metal with black enamel, faux pearls and imitation rubies, emeralds, lapis lazuli, jade, turquoise and pearls. In the early 1950s the company produced ornaments for Christian Dior, a testament to its quality, marketed as 'Kramer for Christian Dior' and 'Dior by Kramer'.
