Encouraged by Gianni Versace, the late Franco Moschino founded the Moschino brand in 1983. He became famous for his bold, eccentric designs, gold chains, his use of color and pop art-inspired prints. He was a controversial figure who criticized the fashion industry and used his collections as campaigns for social awareness.
