This fantastic, SUPER RARE vintage necklace is made with green-blue art-glass cabochons with a "cat's eye" effect on a link chain, finished with small turquoise cabochon rhinestones. The large art-glass beads are all secured with a pronged setting. The necklace has the distinctive early Dior "S" hook clasp and a sturdy link chain, typical of Henkel & Grosse. Many of the early pieces had only a paper hang tag, which has long since disappeared. This necklace is truly OVERWHELMINGLY BEAUTIFUL!
Christian Dior was an influential French fashion designer, known for his elegant and innovative designs. Alongside his famous haute couture, costume jewellery played an important role in his fashion house.
Dior understood that accessories were an essential part of an outfit's overall look. He introduced costume jewellery to complement and enhance his clothing.
Dior's costume jewellery was often lavish and detailed. It was characterised by the use of faux pearls, crystals and gilt metals. The designs were often inspired by nature, featuring floral motifs and organic shapes.
Dior's costume jewellery employed various techniques such as gilding, enamelling and crystal setting. These techniques contributed to the luxurious appearance of the jewellery.
Dior collaborated with talented jewellery designers such as Mitchel Maer and Robert Goossens. These collaborations resulted in iconic pieces that were both innovative and timeless.
