A Neapolitan family with long-standing aristocratic ties, who emigrated in the 1930s to the capital of the Lombardy region, brought Gianni De Liguoro into the world in Milan in 1938.
After his initial training in haute couture, a field in which his family had been active for centuries, he continued his studies at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts.
In 1971 Gianni, already very active in the arts, collaborated with painter and illustrator Mario Moletti on the design of four "talisman" necklaces made of white and copper metal. These were produced in a limited edition for an advertising campaign promoting Fior di Vite grappa by the Ramazzotti brand.
Also in the 1970s, De Liguoro founded the showroom Voi da Noi in Milan, where customers, wholesalers and retailers could buy jewellery themselves by selecting items from baskets.
At the time this was a completely original concept and became an immediate great success. Gianni gained wide recognition in major fashion magazines of the 1970s.
